On The Beach Guesthouse

The guesthouse sits 1.5 kilometres north of Supertubes, directly above Magna Tubes — a less famous but consistently good right-hander that most J-Bay visitors walk past on the way to the main event. Nine room types across two floors, most with unobstructed Indian Ocean views; the penthouse has 180 degrees of it and a balcony from which dolphins are a regular morning fixture. The upstairs lounge and honesty bar face the water. A la carte breakfast is served there too, looking straight out at the break. The design leans into African-inspired decor without overstating it — warm, individually furnished rooms that feel considered rather than decorated. Quieter than the Supertubes strip, with its own gate directly onto the beach.
