AlmaLusa Comporta
AlmaLusa Comporta is the only hotel in the village of Comporta itself — not outside it, not a shuttle ride from it, but in it, on Rua Pedro Nunes, with the rice fields visible from the rooftop bar and the beach a fifteen-minute walk through the village. The building was a three-star apart-hotel; AlmaLusa gutted it and rebuilt it as 53 rooms and suites, using local artisans to make the pieces and local materials to set the palette — eucalyptus palisades on the façades, earthy neutrals inside, natural textures that reference the dunes and the shoreline rather than importing a generic coastal aesthetic. Thirty-one of the rooms are suites with fully equipped kitchens, terraces, or private gardens, and views over the rice fields that roll out behind the village at sunset. The rooftop bar is where most guests end up at dusk. In a destination where most hotels sit outside the village on private estates, the location is the distinguishing fact. Everything else earns it.

The Design
The only hotel in the village. Fifteen-minute walk to the beach. The rooftop bar faces the rice fields at sunset.
Comporta's design vernacular — eucalyptus palisades, whitewash, natural fibres — is used throughout without being replicated. The suites with rice field terraces are the best rooms. Local artisan-made pieces and Portuguese brand partnerships throughout.
