Lost Lindenberg

The Lindenberg group has two boutique hotels in Frankfurt. Lost Lindenberg is what happens when the same owners go as far from Frankfurt as it is possible to go — in concept and in literal distance. Before a single room was built, they spent years in contact with the local community in Pekutatan, learning about Balinese culture and ensuring the architecture would sit correctly beside the surrounding temples. Where local suppliers couldn't meet the standard for bespoke furniture, they created artisan training programmes rather than outsourcing. The Lost Bunch — a programme the hotel co-founded — teaches English, sustainability, and hospitality to local youth. The Michelin Guide awarded it a Key.

The design

Eight treehouse towers by Alexis Dornier and Maximilian Jencquel, connected by elevated walkways above a black lava-sand beach.

Designed by architects Dornier and Jencquel — treehouse towers in the palm canopy, connected by elevated walkways. Wood floors, walls, shutters that open to the jungle or the ocean. The communal table where plant-based dinners are served nightly has become the social centre of the property.

The surf

Medewi Point — Bali's longest wave — is ten minutes up the road. Kelly Slater has surfed it.

Surfboards made in collaboration with Pyzel in the rack. The hotel's VW campervan shuttles guests to Medewi Point when the swell is in. The beach in front of the property has its own break — smaller, quieter, the one for mornings when the point is crowded.

The food

100% plant-based kitchen. Artisan training programmes instead of outsourcing. The Lost Bunch.

The kitchen serves exclusively plant-based cuisine from local organic ingredients — an operational commitment held since opening in 2022, not a menu option. Where local suppliers couldn't meet the required standard, Lost Lindenberg built the training to get them there.
