Le Garage Biarritz

The building on Avenue de l'Impératrice was an aeroclub first, then a private garage for the Rolls-Royces and Packards of guests at the neighbouring Hôtel Régina, then a classic car workshop, then closed for thirty years while street artists colonised the walls. In 2020 it became a hotel. The Experimental Group kept the arched entrance, the industrial volumes, and the original bones, and built the interiors around them — terrazzo floors, Colombian-made furniture, handwoven Ghanese lights, copper freestanding bathtubs in the suites. Twenty-seven rooms, a heated pool under the patio palms, and a restaurant serving Basque produce in the old workshop space. Miramar Beach is a short walk. Le Garage is the building that spent a century accumulating history before someone decided to do something worth remembering with it.
